Three Finales and a Premiere

For my final blog for this class, Communications 112, I will be talking about the finales and premieres of my favorite shows. It’s that time of the year when a few of my favorite shows come to an end. Grey’s Anatomy’s two hour season finale is this week Thursday. In the final episode Izzie spends time with a fellow cancer patient and contemplates whether or not to undergo a risky surgery, as Mark wants to take his relationship with Lexie to the next level. My other favorite show, Desperate Housewives, will come to its finale next week on Sunday. In tonight’s show, Bree hides her true intentions from Orson, Susan and Jackson put on an act for the authorities, and Dave is on edge when a key witness to his misdeeds surfaces. We won’t know what the season finale is about until tonight after the show.
After being sad that my shows are ending, I can be happy again because my summer show: The Secret Life of an American Teenager will premiere again on Monday, June 22nd! A lot of you have probably heard about the show but if not…Amy and Ben are just your normal high school couple, except she's having a baby which is not his. Super-Christian Grace thought she and Jack were for keeps, but then he cheated on her with wild-child Adrian Lee. This threw Grace into the arms of bad-boy Ricky who happens to be the father of Amy's baby. As secrets and scandals begin to surface at Grant High, with they bring the students and their families together - or tear them apart? The season premiere begins with Ben dropping by to kiss Amy goodnight, but as soon as the kiss ends, the fight begins. Turns out Ricky's visiting John, and Ben's not happy with that. Or with anything, all of a sudden. See for yourself on June 22nd. I can’t wait!

Death on Wisteria Lane

For those of you who don’t know, Wisteria Lane is the street on which all the housewives of Desperate Housewives live on. Also, where almost everything on the show takes place. A few weeks ago we saw the beautiful blonde housewife, Edie, of the show get into a car accident, but that episode had ended at that point and we had to wait till last Sunday to know if she lives or not. Turns out Edie Britt dies from being electrocuted after running into the telephone pole after swerving, so she wouldn’t hit Orson Hodge who happened to be in the middle of the road after being chased out of some old lady’s house. What really is surprising to me is that she was the one to die. I thought maybe the old lady would die, but not Edie who practically makes everything in the show more interesting! This leads me to believe that she either wanted off the show or maybe they just wanted to get rid of her? I don’t know, but I want to because she was one of the six housewives! I don’t think I will even be able to watch it anymore without wondering why it was her that had to go! Things like this make me wonder why these actors actually got killed off the show or moved or whatever it is that they make happen to get the character off there. Do they just want to move on in their career? Did they do something wrong? It just makes me wonder! So I did some research and found this on aceshowbiz.com! Here’s what it said : “Sheridan is taking her departure from the show with her head held up high. "I'm OK with leaving," the actress said. "I'm on to the next project and done with this show." Her co-star Eva Longoria meanwhile, is not so keen on the idea. "I love her so much as a person, and I love the character of Edie Britt, that I can't imagine the show without her," Eva told Extra. No clue yet of what 'new project' Sheridan will take but Longoria said, "She's looking forward to new adventures, and she's a star, so she's going to go on to great things."”

Horror Movies of 2009

For this blog I decided to write about the horror movies that came out this year and the ones that will be this year. Personally, I like horror movies. Never ever would I watch one by myself but I do like them when with another person or a group.
In January this year we had eight horror films come out: The Unborn which is the only one out of the eight that I saw in theatres is about a young woman that is haunted by the spirit of her unborn twin brother, who died in the womb , After Dark Horrorfest which is where a car accident lands a man in an odd hospital with a deranged staff that's not interested in healing its patients. The other six movies of the month are: My Bloody Valentine 3-D, Donkey Punch, The Lodger, Outlander, Underworld: The rise of the Lycans, and The Uninvited.( Click on any of the movie titles for more information about the movies!)
Only one horror film came out in the month of February this year. That movie is titled Eden Log in where a man wakes up in an underground world populated by mutants and ghosts, aware only that he must reach a paradise known Eden Log. I never heard of this movie coming out and it doesn’t really sound that interesting to me!
Last month, March, only two movies came out. The Last House on the Left and The Haunting in Connecticut. The Haunting in Connecticut is based on a true story that became a Discovery Channel documentary and now a feature film that follows a family's tribulations as they move to a new home in order to help their ailing son, only to discover that it's haunted.
With the months of April and May combined we have a total of three movies coming out. Mutant Chronicles and Obsessed(A deranged temp worker (Ali Larter) begins stalking a successful business man (Idris Elba) in her office, threatening to destroy his blissful life with his wife (Beyonce Knowles) and kids) in April and Drag Me to Hell in May. In June and July we have five movies come out. Dead Snow, Prey, and Surveillance (David Lynch produced this tale, directed by his daughter Jennifer, of two federal officers who listen to three sets of stories from three would-be victims -- a zealous cop, a strung out junkie and an eight-year-old girl -- to figure out who committed a string of vicious murders) debut in June and All the Boys Love Mandy Lane( this looks really good!) and Orphan come out in July. In the remaining months, August through December, a total of fifteen movies come out. Some of the movies that I think will be big throughout the last half of the year will be Final Destination 3-D in August, Saw VI in October, and The Wolf Man in November.

Back to the Drama!

So today I decided to go back and talk about another drama television show because I wasn’t really sure on what else to blog about and this is just easier for me being I know some stuff about it. My inspiration for this blog comes from me turning on the television the other day to check our DVR to see if Grey’s Anatomy or Desperate Housewives had been new at all lately, which they hadn’t so I was kind of upset. But my TV was on the ABC channel and Scrubs had been on and for some reason when the show has to deal with hospitals or doctors I am always interested, so I thought today I would inform you of that show because I thought it was interesting and would also like to know more about it myself!
“Scrubs focuses on the unique point of view of Dr. John Dorian, or "J.D." (Zach Braff). After surviving his internship and residency at Sacred Heart Hospital, J.D. is now an attending physician with his own class of interns to guide and mentor. Even though J.D. has risen in the hospital ranks, he will continue to face many challenges in both his personal and professional life. Joining the rumpled J.D. at Sacred Heart Hospital are Dr. Chris Turk (Donald Faison) -- J.D.'s college buddy who is part of the elite surgical group, Turk's wife, the no-nonsense head nurse, Carla Espinosa (Judy Reyes), as well as the beautiful, but socially awkward, Dr. Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke). Former Chief of Medicine Dr. Bob Kelso (Ken Jenkins) now keeps a watchful eye on the hospital staff from the coffee shop. Meanwhile, the caring yet abrasive Dr. Perry Cox (John C. McGinley) is struggling with an identity crisis as he reevaluates his career, and, the hospital janitor (Neil Flynn) and J.D.'s nemesis, who never seems to miss an opportunity to harass his target.Scrubs stars Zach Braff as J.D., Sarah Chalke as Elliot Reid, Donald Faison as Chris Turk, John C. McGinley as Dr. Perry Cox, Judy Reyes as Carla Espinosa, Ken Jenkins as Dr. Bob Kelso and Neil Flynn as the Janitor. Scrubs is produced by ABC Studios. Bill Lawrence (Spin City) is the executive producer and creator.” http://abc.go.com/primetime/scrubs/index?pn=about

Online Newspapers

Well, since we are now allowed to talk about any kind of media of which we choose, I am going to talk about online newspapers for this blog because I essentially think that it is awesome that the newspapers are available online. However, more and more these days they are all becoming available to us readers online. I think they may be doing this because it is cheaper than printing a ton of newspapers that people may not buy because they read them online like me…and almost everybody has access to the internet now.
My hometown newspaper, The Britton Journal, comes out weekly and I make sure that read it every week. I read pretty much everything in this newspaper because I am from a small community and I know pretty much everybody from around here, so it is nice to know everything that is going on from community happenings to sports to the obituaries and bridal showers. It used to not be available online but is now which will be handy in the future. The other paper that I sort of read is the Aberdeen American News. This paper contains world news and local news for the Aberdeen area. It has been available to readers online for quite some time and that has been really splendid since I have been away at school and don’t have access to the actual paper newspaper. In this newspaper I usually only look at the sports section and the world news because I don’t really know any of the locals and the stuff that goes on around that town because I live an hour away. So being able to read that information with a few clicks of a mouse is really convenient. Do you guys read newspapers online? Or would you rather just read them on paper when you go home to visit?

Private Practice

This week I figured I would change it up a bit and talk about a drama television show that I don’t watch and research it a little bit and give you a heads up on what it is about. I chose to talk about Private Practice which is also on ABC. I know a little of Private Practice because it comes on after Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday nights and in the past had a crossover episode with Grey’s. Also, the main character of Private Practice was once a character in Grey’s Anatomy where she was the ex-wife of Derek Shepherd. If I had an extra hour to watch television, this would probably be the show I would watch just because I happen to like the doctor shows. So here is a little about Private Practice and to read the whole thing go to the ABC website and click on Private Practice or follow this link!“From Shonda Rhimes, the Golden Globe-winning creator of "Grey's Anatomy" comes a story about finding a way to begin the rest of your life. Addison Forbes Montgomery is a renowned surgeon. Having left behind Seattle Grace Hospital, a broken marriage with Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd, and her torn relationship with Mark "McSteamy" Sloan, Addison moves to Los Angeles for sunnier weather and happier possibilities. Addison reunites with her friends from medical school, Naomi and Sam Bennett, joining them at their chic, co-op, Oceanside Wellness Center in Santa Monica. Naomi, a fertility and hormone specialist and majority owner of the clinic, and Sam, an internist whose self-help books have made him the "common man's medical guru," are newly divorced. They co-exist for the sake of their teenaged daughter, Maya, and their medical practice, but the relationship is hardly amicable. The center's resident pediatrician is Dr. Cooper Freedman, whose success in his profession belies his rocky personal life. He's a serial internet dater who is always attracted to the wrong woman. Most dates end badly for him; some even end in petty or grand theft. Cooper finds solace and counsel in his closest friend, co-op psychiatrist Dr. Violet Turner - but she's no luckier in love. Able to deftly advise her patients in their relationships, she's intense, determined and unwilling to let outsiders see the obvious cracks in her veneer. Inside, Violet is crumbling after her recent breakup with an ex who has already moved on and married. Dr. Pete Wilder is the alternative medicine specialist at the practice. Attractive and assured, Pete is a "catch" by any standard; in fact, he's already caught Addison's eye, and he, hers. Though the chemistry is immediate and palpable between the two, Pete's cockiness and confidence conceal a man still reeling from his wife's tragic passing eight years beforehand, a man who has been unable to truly connect with a woman since. With Addison starting anew in Los Angeles, Pete may chance new beginnings in his own life….For Addison, an old friend's invitation brings her to a new city and a new life full of promise. At Oceanside Wellness Center, the doctors are dedicated pros; it's their private lives that need a little practice.”

Grey's Anatomy Recap

In the most recent episode of Grey’s Anatomy which aired on Thursday we witnessed a face transplant. The patient needed to have 70% of his face grafted. This surgery was considered one of the biggest surgeries in the world and it just happened to be happening at Seattle Grace Hospital while everything was going to heck. Derek refuses to come back to work even after Dr. Bailey had sent Callie and Owen out there to retrieve him but find themselves telling stories of the patients that they have both lost. Eventually, Chief gets fed up and heads out to the woods himself to talk to Derek. They then argue about Chief had told Meredith about the ring and that he had hit it out into the woods that night that he had sent her out to talk him into coming back to Seattle Grace. Also during this time the interns have some issues that need to be solved. Two of the boys are beating each other over a girl that we find out is pregnant with one of their kids. While Christina is preparing to do her solo surgery, she is also helping Izzie with getting and appointment to get her melanoma cancer cells checked out in which she ends up not going to. Izzie confides in Christina that she doesn’t want to be a patient and have the staff laugh at her and call her names while under the knife. She tells Christina that she doesn’t want anybody to know and that she is just going to live with it. Later in Christina’s solo surgery before she asks for the scalpel she reveals to Bailey and Alex what is wrong with Izzie. At the end of the episode Meredith goes out to Derek’s trailer in the woods and he tells her that he loves her and she said she knew. He then asked her if she would still love him if he wasn’t a surgeon. She said no. But then tells him of Izzie’s condition and gives him the scans of her brain. After she leaves we see him pick them up. So my guess is that in the next episode Derek goes back to try to save Izzie because at the end of the show we also see her transferring to a patient and is no longer a doctor. I am really excited for the next episode because, hopefully, Derek will be back at Seattle Grace and they(he) will be able to save Izzie and everything will go back to normal! Also at the very end we see that the face transplant patient successfully got a new face but is still a bit bruised and swollen. That should be neat to see on Thursday how that turns out and if it gets infected or not. I am also excited to find out how Christina’s solo surgery went. Four days till then! Can’t wait!

Catching Up

So today I spent a good amount of my day at home catching up with all the episodes of my television shows that I haven’t had time watch the past few weeks. Desperate Housewives is on tonight at 8 PM and I am super excited to finally be able to be home and watch it with my mom and watch it the day it actually is showed! As I was catching up on my shows on the ABC website, I also took the quiz to find out which Desperate Housewife I was. Turns out to be that I am Lynette! It told me that I am usually always there to help someone when they need it, which is very true on my part. Ask me for help and I will try my best to help you out. It said some other things too that I think are very true about how I feel and look at things. In the recent episode that I caught up on today the Scavo’s were having a going-out-of-business sale at the pizzeria and Tom was having a pretty rough time with all this. Katherine was having a house warming party for Mike because he had just moved into her house with her and the girls, Gabrielle, Bree, and Edie were all surprised that Susan had been invited and was being an adult about it and was actually letting Katherine use here punch bowl at the party. Bree tries to help out Tom by inviting her publisher over for dinner as well as the Scavo’s for a little interview as he is looking for someone to do advertisements for books and other things like that. While they are at dinner Tom seems to be of little interest and then Lynette decides to step up for the family and try and get the job. Tom realizes this, and then also starts wanting the job, so they get into a big fight and say some pretty bad things about each other but later at home they forgive each other and Tom decided to let Lynette go back to work and they are happy again. Also in this episode we find that Orson has a minor pick-pocketing habit that will most likely get him into trouble in the near future. The episode ends with Gabrielle getting a call from Carlos’s boss’s wife, Maria, who needs their help. They go over to their house and find Brad, Carlos’s boss dead on the floor with a knife in his back because he had told Maria about his new love that he had found. That is how that episode ended, so I am excited to watch the new episode in like twenty minutes!

Spoilers..what's the fun in that??

I missed Grey’s Anatomy this last Thursday because I went to my high school BBB District Championship game and I haven’t had time yet to watch it online. So, I Googled Grey’s Anatomy and then I found this website www.tvfanatic.com, which has a bunch of shows you can look at pages for, and I clicked a drop down box and clicked Grey’s Anatomy because I had missed it this past week. So now I am on this webpage titled Grey’s Anatomy Insider and I am thinking “sweet, this could be a fun website since Grey’s is like my favorite show.” On the home page of this website you can get a sneak peek at the next weeks episode. There is also a tab that is dedicated to the quotes from the show . There are groups for the top rated quotes, recent quotes, quotes by episode or quotes from a certain character that you can use as searching tools. There are also other tabs for pictures from the show, episode guides, forums which has like message boards so people can discuss things about the show with other fanatics , and one that is dedicated to giving information about the characters and the cast of the show. Then what really got me was the tab at the top titled Spoilers. I read down a few paragraphs and this website has people asking questions about things that happen in the show and they want to know what is going on before the show actually reveals it. I was kind of upset with this because what is the fun in watching the show when you already know what is going to be revealed. What is the fun if there is no suspense? Because I had found this information of course I had to read it and now I am kind of upset that I did because it ruined the whole show for me. I will still watch it but I won’t like to watch it knowing what is going to be revealed during the episode.

On the Web

Some television channels are all about drama and they create websites dedicated to their shows and to their viewers , so that if we happen to miss an episode it will be right there the next day so we are able to see it. The two most common channels and websites for drama television are ABC and TNT.
On ABC’s website they give you the opportunity to watch the episodes of your favorite series online for free! Some of the shows available are The Bachelor, Brothers and Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, General Hospital, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, Private Practice, Scrubs, Supernanny, Ugly Betty and a few others. There is also a schedule that shows what time every show is on during the current week. Also on the website, there are blogs you can read or participate in, games and quizzes about the shows, message boards and widgets. You can also view photos of the characters of the show, information about the shows, bios and episode recaps. They also have tours you can watch of the shows! Even though this site’s purpose is for the shows shown on it, you can also click on a link that will take you to the news for the day.
TNT’s slogan is WE KNOW DRAMA. If we want to watch some good drama television, I guess that is the channel or website to go to! On the site you can watch videos and series online for free also. They also have sneak peeks of the newest episodes. The site also tells us the movies that are going to be shown or have recently been on the channel. There are games you can play and information about sports like the NBA, NASCAR, and Golf. Just like ABC, TNT also gives a schedule of their shows for the day. There is a link to enter a sweepstakes to win a gift certificate to Amazon.com. The two websites are very similar except ABC doesn’t give sneak peeks of the newest episodes and doesn’t have a sweepstakes that can be entered that I know of. I go on ABC.com a lot because I am often busy at the time they are showed, so it helps a lot that they have free viewing of past episodes so I don’t miss an episode!

Let's Review

Personally, I don't write reviews but I do think they are fun to read and see what people have to say about the shows that I like to watch, so here are some reviews of some of the most popular drama television shows.
The number one rated drama television show has a 3.8 star rating from the 201 times that it has been rated. The first six reviews have all four or five star ratings and positive things to say like “ I like the edge”, or “Every episode introduces a new twist or a new set of circumstances that you had no idea was coming. The writing for this show is simply amazing.”
Then comes the two star review in which this person states that they don’t like it because “Too many characters, too many drawn out and obscure plots, moves along at a snail's pace. It might have been OK if the producers had condensed 24 episodes in each series down to 12 and got things moving a bit. All in all pretty dull fare.” Seeing that this number one rated television show also has quite a few bad ratings surprises me. I was not expecting to see that, but I guess some people really know what they like in their TV shows and don’t like anything but. http://www.rateitall.com/i-131350-lost.aspx
Grey’s Anatomy has now moved up to number two on the list of popularity. Grey’s has a 3.65 star rating from its 130 reviews. Of those 42 ratings only seven of them had a two star rating or below. The few people that gave it a bad review said that it was becoming more of a “soap opera.” The most recent review tells us “Grey’s anatomy is a GREAT tv drama, and is a show that anyone can enjoy. The simplicity of all the characters mixed with all of the intense medical drama and all of the complex relationships, with in watching only a few episodes, you will find your self commenting on how so-and-so did something with so-and-so, and be addicted like I was.” http://www.rateitall.com/i-729326-greys-anatomy.aspx Personally, I agree with this review because I love the relationship problems all tied in with the medical work problems. It fascinates me! I love watching Grey’s with my mom so she can explain all the medical stuff and then we can talk about it and how much sense everything made in that episode. Even when I call her during the week for something I always ask about the most recent episode.
Desperate Housewives has a 3.52 star rating as the average of the 215 times it had been rated. A recent review stated “Brilliant acting and even though the storylines are well "out there," they're so clever, the way everything works out and a lot of the time you're left thinking Oh my god I can’t believe that happened. The theme, the music, the suspense, the camera work, the edit..everything works!” I soooo agree with this review! I love the whole friend aspect of everything and that's what makes it so interesting to me. http://www.rateitall.com/i-112846-desperate-housewives.aspx

Crossover Drama

Recently, on ABC, they have had two of their major drama television series “crossover” with each other. For the last two weeks Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice have been in connection with each other making it a one two hour show instead of two one hour shows that have nothing to do with eachother. Dr. Shepherd from Grey’s Anatomy was called while he was getting ready to propose to Dr. Meredith Grey and was needed to perform surgery on his ex-wife’s brother who are both characters in Private Practice. Here is the re-cap of what the last two episodes had in store for us... “Derek is ready to propose to Meredith, but wants to wait until the right moment, because, as he tells Mark, "she spooks easily." Mark advises Derek to wait, Cristina tells him to keep it simple, while the Chief advises Derek to go all out. Derek is surprised when Meredith mentions how cute their kids will be, so he takes it as a sign he should go ahead and propose. Meredith finds Cristina in an on-call room, with Owen fast asleep. "He's planning to propose," she tells Meredith, but she's talking about Richard in the diary, not Derek. “You have been acting like a basket case," Meredith tells Derek as he prepares to leave the hospital for the day, "If you don't want babies or you don't want babies with my crappy DNA, just say so." "Meredith, I want your crappy babies, all of them," he tells her, but insists he has to go. With Mark's help, Derek has decorated their bedroom with dozens of roses, candles and teddy bears, but after he gets a call, thinks better of it. The only evidence of his romantic gesture: A single rose Meredith finds under her pillow.”
In the second episode of the crossovers Addison and her brother and friend show up. These three are the characters from Private Practice although Addison used to be on Grey’s Anatomy and then started up with her own show, Private Practice. “Addison arrives at Seattle Grace with her brother Archer, who's collapsed due to a parasite in his brain. Archer suffered a seizure during sex with his girlfriend, Naomi, who also happens to be Addison's best friend. Derek announces that surgery is not an option as Archer has eight cysts in his brain, any one of which could burst during surgery and kill him. Derek consults with the best doctors and they all agree the case is hopeless. Sam, Naomi's ex and a fellow doctor at the Wellness Center in LA, urges Derek to consider treating the cysts one by one. Derek decides it's doable and talks a reluctant Archer into having the surgery. Meanwhile, seeing all of Derek's old friends and hearing about how he sang and played guitar at his wedding to Addison makes Meredith realize there's a side of Derek she doesn't know at all.”
To get all the season re-caps of Grey’s go to------->>>>>

Private Practice--- >>>>> http://abc.go.com/primetime/privatepractice/index?pn=recap#t=132693

Personally, I think they are only doing this to get people to watch the two shows more , so that even after the whole crossover thing is done with, hopefully, people that didn’t watch one or the other of the shows before will watch both instead of just one of them to get their ratings up. After this thing is over, I still don’t think I will watch Private Practice because I don’t have the time. I haven’t really ever watched an episode and it is probably really good…but no time with all the homework!

History and such...

When we think of drama we think something bad is going to happen to something or someone in the show. On the contrary, drama can also be somewhat good for some people. Drama television brings emotion and conflict to our eye through the television. “Drama originally started in plays in the Renaissance by one of the world’s greatest playwrights William Shakespeare. From Hamlet to Romeo and Juliet, all of Shakespeare’s shows were full of drama and excitement. Drama is one of the oldest genres of TV shows in television. From Simon on Seventh Heaven to Buffy on Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, dramas have a very wide range of characters. Drama television shows started in the 1940’s and they were a huge hit. The longest running drama TV show was a soap opera called Guiding Light. It first aired on June 30, 1952 and it is currently aired each weekday. Drama shows could be about family, animals, school and so much more. Also, dramas can be for viewers of all ages.” http://library.thinkquest.org/04apr/00328/dramajen.htm
The shows I like watch haven’t been around for that long of a time but they are widely know across the country. I think we like the drama television shows of today because they are upbeat and deal with things that we can relate to or would like to relate to in our lives today. Same as back then when drama television was first discovered; the shows back then had to deal with the things they could relate to also. The reason I like Grey’s because it is all about hospital drama which I find fascinating and the relationship drama which is always fun to watch and see how people deal. I love Desperate Housewives because it is about a group of friends and their problems which will relate to us all at some point in our lives. The Secret Life of an American Teenager is appealing because it is so real life and that could happen to anyone at that age and we enjoy crying and laughing at all the conflicts that happen. Drama TV can also teach us what to do if we are ever out in the scenarios that happen on television even though sometimes the ways to deal showed on TV are sometimes not right. I think it is pretty cool that drama has been around for that long. Drama television is probably the oldest type of TV entertainment because even cartoons had drama in them! More than 70 years being that the first full length movie was shown in 1915!

Celebs!

We all have our own thoughts of who the sexiest actor on television is. According to Hollywood Katherine Heigl of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy is considered one of them! She plays Dr. Isobel “Izzie” Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy and has been in 89 episodes. She has also played in many movies that I am sure most of us are familiar with. She has starred in 27 Dresses, Knocked Up, The Ringer, Wuthering Heights, Descendent and many more. A new movie she stars in comes out in July this year called The Ugly Truth which is about “a romantically challenged morning show producer (Heigl) is reluctantly embroiled in a series of outrageous tests by her chauvinistic correspondent (Butler) to prove his theories on relationships and help her find love. His clever ploys, however, lead to an unexpected result.” http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1142988/plotsummary
Now who is the sexiest Drama television hunk you ask? That would have to be Patrick Dempsey, also a star of Grey’s Anatomy. He won this title in 2006 and in 2007. He has appeared in Grey’s Anatomy, as “McDreamy” or Dr. Derek Shepherd in 89 episodes throughout 2005-2009. He has also been in approximately 56 other movies or series. Some of them that we might be familiar with would be Made of Honor, Enchanted, Freedom Writers, Lucky 7, The Practice, Sweet Home Alabama, Will and Grace, Scream 3, and About a Boy. He has been nominated for two Golden Globes and has had another four wins and eight other nominations. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001131/

The sexiest high-fox factor comedienne in Hollywood is Eva Longoria Parker( Gabrielle Solis) of drama television show Desperate Housewives. She has appeared in 110 episodes throughout 2004-2009. She has been in 19 movies and/or television series including two that come out this year titled Foodfight! and an episode of Vecinos. She has also starred in Over Her Dead Body, The Heartbreak Kid, The Young and the Restless, and Lower Learning. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0519456/

Popularity

The most popular drama shows out there today are: Lost, Smallville, Grey’s Anatomy, Bones, House, Gossip Girl, Heroes, One Tree Hill, CSI, ER, Desperate Housewives, Fringe, Private Practice, and Skins. The top five highest rated drama shows would be : House, Heroes, Lost, Dexter and Monk.
Some of those shows I have never even heard of, so it is kind of weird that they are some of the most popular or highest rated. However, the show I am committed to, Grey’s Anatomy, is the third most popular and Desperate Housewives ranks at 11th most popular.
The most popular drama television series is Lost is rated 9.2 which beat out Smallville and Grey’s Anatomy at 9.0. “Lost is about how after Oceanic Air Flight 815 tears apart in mid-air and crashes on a Pacific island on September 22nd 2004, its survivors are forced to find inner strength they never knew they had in order to survive. But they discover that the island holds many secrets, including a mysterious smoke monster, polar bears, housing with electricity and hot & cold running water, a group of island residents known as "The Others," and a mysterious man named Jacob. The survivors also find signs of those who came to the island before them, including a 19th century sailing ship called The Black Rock and the ruins of an ancient statue, as well as bunkers belonging to the Dharma Initiative -- a group of scientific researchers who inhabited the island in the recent past.” http://www.tv.com/lost/show/24313/summary.html
The second most popular is Smallville. “Smallville tells the tale of a teenage Clark Kent in the days before he was Superman. It is the town where he came from where very strange things started happening with his arrival in a spaceship in the midst of a meteor storm of green rocks. Clark must deal with a variety of individuals given powers by the green rocks, keep his powers a secret, cope with his friendship with a young Lex Luthor, and balance the two girls in his life, Chloe and Lana. The show also shows us how Lex Luthor develops from a friend of Clark's and kinda-okay guy to (presumably) the villain who will plague Superman in his later years.” http://www.tv.com/smallville/show/1718/summary.html
--I don’t think I would be interested in either of these shows at all , but they are the two most popular shows so they must be good. I might have to watch an episode of each one to see how good they really are but then again I probably shouldn’t just in case I really do like them and become addicted like I am to Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives and The Secret Life of an American Teenager.

Intro

Hi, my name is Lydia Bremmon and I am from Britton, South Dakota which is about 100 miles from here. I am a freshman here at Valley City State University. My planned major is elementary education. For this class ,I plan to blog about the different drama series on television. I have three different shows on television that I have to see every week. If I miss it the day it is on, I have to watch it the next day online. I'm not totally addicted like those people that drop everything to watch their shows but I could be considered somewhat addicted.
The three shows that I watch are: Desperate Housewives on Sunday, The Secret Life of an American Teenager on Mondays, and Grey's Anatomy on Thursdays. Desperate Housewives, on the ABC channel, is about a group of people and all the drama that goes on in their neighborhood. The Secret Life of an American Teenager on ABC Family is about this 15-year old girl who gets pregnant and Grey's Anatomy, which is also on ABC, is a show about doctors and all their drama that they go through with inside and outside of the hospital( Seattle Grace Hospital) in which they work at. So, pretty much for the rest of my blogs for this Communications class I will be blogging about different things that pertain to drama series on television.
